Excerpts from a 5th/6th grade diary

So, I started to write in a diary ( no, not a journal. In 5th grade it was a diary) when I was in 5th grade because I wanted to get my Gospel in Action award. Well, I have been writing in one ever since. But, my first entries were by far my best journal writing efforts. You don't have to keep on reading but I suggest you do because it is hilarious. I was a freak is all I have to say. I wrote some funny things. Oh, and in my mind writing in a journal was a grown-up thing and there were two rules: write in cursive and try to use big words. Oh my I was weird!

"Dear Journal,

I've started my state report and it is turning out quite good. I hope I get a finished and get a good grade on it. The Utah Jazz lost tonight to the Phoenix Suns. Boo hoo! I had fun at church today we learned about Anna and Simeon. I wish I had nothing on my mind but I have a lot.

I really don't have anything to say tonight. Sorry about the writing!
Yours truly,
Megann, your journal writer"

"Dear Journal,

I hate boys. They're jerks (at least the gross ones are) I'm going to tell you something that I would never tell to anyone. Today G.P. [I am not going to put the real name but I am sure you can really figure it out!] said something like on the calculater he said boobless it made me cry but no one saw me. I'll tell you the rest tomorrow. Got to go bye!

Love ya,
From Megann
With Love"

"Dear Journal,

Tonight I'm going to give a better attitude toward others, and give myself to a better life. I'm going to improve my penmanship, my math memory skills, my spelling, english skills, reading skills, and I'll keep my desk cleaner at school.

At home starting tonight. I'll keep my room spotless, help keep the house spotless, and be much nicer to Miranda and Ryan. I'll help take much better care of Lexie and Cookie.

I hope this theory of mine works out. Oh, and I'll do better in softball, piano, violin and I'll keep my self-esteem up.
With love

I was so weird! So, I guess I have always been a freak about my grades. And who knew I paid attention in church so much! I also love how I made so many goals for my Gospel in Action award and never did them!

Okay I am crying I am laughing so hard right now... and i'm at work so I look like a crazy pants! A doctor keeps glancing in my direction because I am laughing so hard and tears are streaming out my eyes. Okay that was too funny! Especially G.P. because I know exactly who that is and I know he would right that on his calculator. Love it Meg!

That is sooooo funny!!! I TOTALLY remember the "boobless" thing on the calculator!!! bahahaha. I remember some kid in elementary school did that to me too, and I was really upset about it because I thought he was making fun of me. This makes me want to dig up my old diaries and laugh at myself. Thanks for sharing!!

No, I'm not doing the grocery guru. A gal in my ward gets five sunday newspapers each week, and pays about $18 dollars a month, and she told me that she saves way more than $20 a week so I figure I am going to give it a shot.

This is awesome!!! I've never been very good at keeping a journal, but the few that I have from my teenage years are ridiculous! I was such an idiot!!! I love that you shared this!!!

I'm a little late on the comment, but I lauged way hard at your post. That's awesome. I would be too scared to read my old journals. I'm sure it would be absolutely mortifying.
