Gotta dance!

(used to could do this)

There are times I do miss Utah. Okay, not only because I miss family, friends, and well, let's be honest I really miss my cat Cookie but there is also another reason. Dance classes.

Much before we found out we were moving I decided to start classes again including being on a competition clogging team again. It was great. I was really starting to get back into shape and I just love to dance. Yes, at 25 that is totally cool.

I have found out that is only true in Utah.

In Utah, at practically every corner there is a dance studio. I might go as far as saying Utah is a dance Mecca.

I assumed this not to be true in Nashville but I thought there would be something. Surely with Nashville being so close to the Appalachians where clogging supposedly began its roots there would be a team. Nope. No clogging anywhere to be found in the Nashville area. The closest team I could join is 1 1/2 away. In addition my search for a great adult jazz and hip hop class has almost left me hopeless. They are plentiful in Utah. Usually when it is adult it really means 20 somethings that can't give up dancing. Not here. When they mean adult they mean adult. I can sum it up with this statement: the classes I went to sucked. The only class that is worthwhile (which has made me EXTREMELY sore over the last few days) is a class with a bunch of 17 year-olds . . . oh and a 25 year-old lamo a.k.a me. I will continue to attend but I feel like a loser. I don't care though cause I gotta dance! Gotta dance! Got ta dance (Erika you better pick up on that).

So, basically what I am saying is I will be starting my own clogging studio here in our extra bedroom for me, myself, and I. The classes will be every night for 30 minutes to an hour (dependent upon students' stamina). Clogging shoes required. Awesome music also required a.k.a "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga (or bird's nest face if you watched the VMA's). As for competitions I am not so sure if we will compete yet because we will see how the team improves.

As for the Jazz classes black jazz shoes required. Black jazz pants or flowy costumes also required. We will be dancing to most of Michael Jackson's music because as we all know his music is pretty much the best. We will be doing a showcase at Christmas time at a local middle school auditorium so put that on your calendars.

Email me if you have any questions or if you would like to join the teams. Dance enthusiasts always welcome!

Am I "certain" friends? I sure hope so! I've been meaning to comment on all your posts, but just haven't.

Ok, first off, love the reference to Singin' in the Rain. Thought of it as soon as you put it in the title. Second, wish I could come join your dance studio! I really do. I miss clogging. I SERIOUSLY should have taken that job here. Too bad because I didn't they cancelled the class. I suck. Third, what middle school will be performing at? West Jordan Middle is always a great choice!

Good luck on your quest for a dance studio. Maybe you really should open your own!

I MISS DANCE SO BAD. Sigh. I was thinking the other day, "ok, I am no longer fat and pregnant, there has got to be some adult classes I can take here." No. And no. Granted, my search has not been extensive yet, but still. Thomas and I will probably resort to making up clogging duets and competing in our living room in front of our cat and baby girl. Sad. I feel your pain. Oh Utah, I miss you!
