I am sick of the bologna and bias

This article expresses my opinions so you may not want to read this but if you are looking at my blog you might as well. I am so sick of people saying that Palin does not have the experience to be Vice-President. What about Barack Obama? What is his experience? Below I have copied and pasted the official statements on the candidates' websites, www.barackobama.com and www.johnmccain.com, about each candidate. They are only the paragraphs explaining each candidate's experience in public service office as well as his/her schooling. I will be posting my general opinion first if you really have no desire to read all of this. WARNING: this post is freakishly long.

I am writing this to point out that Palin DOES have experience in public service. She has different service in terms of type of service and population. In terms of years in public office she has just as much as Obama. In terms of population and type of service is where the difference lies.

What I am really trying to say is if Palin isn't experienced than why isn't Obama not experienced? Why doesn't anyone ever point out Obama's lack of experience? In my opinion, Obama DOESN'T have the necessary experience to be President compared to candidates in the primaries and McCain. Look at his experience compared to McCain. Seriously, his qualifications for President are FAR less than McCain. The media needs to compare Obama vs. McCain. Not, Obama vs. Palin. McCain is not dead yet!

I wish that I had my own political show. The media is attacking Palin much more than Obama and it well, just really gets under my skin.

Barack Obama:

"Later, he moved to New York, where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983. "
"Remembering the values of empathy and service that his mother taught him, Barack put law school and corporate life on hold after college and moved to Chicago in 1985, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment."
"He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Soon after, he returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. Finally, his advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years. In 2004, he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate."

Sarah Palin
"She received a bachelor of science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987."
"
On December 4, 2006, Governor Sarah Palin made history as the first woman to become her state's chief executive. As the 11th governor of Alaska, she has successfully fought the special interests, the lobbyists, the Big Oil companies and the good ol' boys network to reform a system that had bred corruption in her state."
"
Prior to her election as governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the Mayor of Wasilla."
"
Prior to taking office, Governor Palin served on numerous boards and commissions throughout the state. In many ways, she was just your average 'hockey mom.' She was active in her family’s pursuits – including serving as a sports team mom, coaching basketball and volunteering on the PTA to help make her kids' public education better."

So, Obama has a law degree. Sarah Palin has a bachelor's degree. Obama has 8 years experience in the Illinois state senate. Palin has 2 terms on the Wasilla city council and 2 terms as Mayor. Obama has been a senator been working as a senator since 2005. Palin has been working as the Governor of Alaska since 2006. Obama worked as a community organizer before going to law school. Palin was on the PTA. On this basic analysis Obama has three years more education. He served 8 years as a state senator where his district had around 200, 000 people. Sarah Palin served 10 years on the Wasilla council and of a population of about 6, 000. Obama has almost 4 years in the Senate and Palin has almost three years as Governor.

Here is McCain's and Biden's experience.

McCain
"
John McCain has a remarkable record of leadership and experience that embodies his unwavering lifetime commitment to service. First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona in 1982, John has led the fight for reforming Washington, eliminating wasteful government spending, and strengthening our nation's armed forces.

John McCain's reform agenda to reduce federal spending and lower taxes quickly elevated him to statewide office and he was elected to the United States Senate in 1986, after serving two terms in the U.S. House. "

"
John attended college at the United States Naval Academy, and launched a 22-year career as a naval aviator upon his graduation."

Biden:
"

After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1965 and from law school at Syracuse University in 1968, Biden moved back to the Wilmington area and set up his own law firm. He practiced law until 1972.

In 1970, Biden – at age 27 – ran for New Castle County Council and won in a Republican district. At age 29, he launched an improbable bid to unseat two-term Republican U.S. Sen. J. Caleb Boggs. With very little help from the state establishment, and with his sister as his campaign manager, Biden defeated Boggs by 3,162 votes."

"In addition to serving as U.S. Senator, Biden has been an adjunct professor at the Widener University School of Law since 1991, where he teaches a seminar on constitutional law."

Meg, I love that you are into politics. I'm loving this election, and am happy that it is making people care about our country more and what goes on in our government. I agree with your post about Palin and Obama having about the same amount of experience. I am leaning more towards Obama though. I do want both of the canidates to come out and give a more concise plan of what they are going to do. It seems like both are just using a lot of rhetoric. I do like Obama though (he's kind of good looking too :))

Ok I don't know what happened to the long comment I made but maybe it was too long. So I am trying again. I have a sense of deja vu with all this Obama hysteria. I have seen his type before in politics. I am old, that's why. I am very disconcerted that young people in the greatest country on this earth want to elect someone just because he is a smooth talker. Let's see how smooth he is when Iran threatens Israel again, or actually tries to wipe them off the earth. I just don't think he has the fortitude. I know what John McCain is made of, we have seen his strength and character for years. Obama will mean a raise in taxes, runaway inflation, higher interest rates, etc., and then the people who elected him will see that he doesn't have what it takes to be a successful president in these complicated times. As far as comparing William Ayers to G Gordon Liddy, I am laughing at that one. Is that person serious? Do you actually know who William Ayers is, good grief. How can you compare someone who joyfully planted bombs and killed innocent people to make a point of dislike of the Vietnam War to a C player like Liddy, who didn't even cover his tracks. The association, however slight, between Ayers and Obama is very troubling to me.

Hey, Merge Divide. If you are going to comment and start talking nasty, this is not the place. I have a whole separate blog for that. As for young people being wanting to elect someone for being a smooth talker, it is true. I am in that age group and I see it ALL of the time among my peers. So, she is not making assumptions. It is absolutely true. As for Ayers, you are insane. You said, "William Ayers NEVER killed anyone, and his actions were intended to cause only property damage." Hello! He could have killed someone! Also, What about his girlfriend?
